The OINP is Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Foreign workers, international students and others can apply via the OINP to be nominated for permanent residency in the province of Ontario.

The OINP offers several nomination streams, some of which are under Express Entry.

To qualify for any of the OINP streams, you must intend to live in Ontario.

What you need to know

What is the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)?

What are the OINP Express Entry streams?

The OINP offers three streams within Express Entry:

  • Human Capital Priorities stream

         - General Draw

         - Tech Draw

         - Occupation-Specific Draws

  • French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream

  • Skilled Trades stream

How do I get invited by the OINP to apply under Express Entry?

To be invited to apply for a nomination, you need:

  • A profile in the Express Entry pool

  • To have indicated in your profile that you would like to reside in Ontario

  • To meet the requirements of one of the three federal programs under Express Entry (CEC, FSW, and FSTP)

  • To meet the Ontario requirements of the stream you were invited under

  • Sufficient CRS points to be invited by Ontario in their randomly conducted draws.

  • For occupation specific draws, to have experience in the targeted NOC.

If Ontario invites you to apply via Express Entry, you must submit an application for nomination to Ontario proving you meet the criteria under which you were invited to apply. If nominated, you’ll be given an additional 600 CRS points under Express Entry which guarantees an invitation to apply for permanent residency in the next general or PNP-specific Express Entry draw.

How do I get invited by the OINP to apply under the Non-Express Entry streams?

The OINP offers six streams that operate outside Express Entry. To be considered, you must first submit an Expression of Interest via the OINP online portal. You will receive points based on a variety of factors. Draws are conducted randomly throughout the year.

If invited to apply, you’ll have 14 days to submit a complete application proving you meet the requirements of the stream under which you were invited to apply.

If nominated, you’ll need to submit an application for permanent residency to the federal government.

Some provincial nominees may be eligible for a bridging open work permit or an employer-specific provincial nomination-based work permit.
